Feeling very bored these days i planned for a weekend outing in Bangalore(actually it turned out to be Mysore dominant trip) and I started with my cousin(Mouli) last friday. We got down at the Bangalore cantontment station and sipped a cuppa coffee, grabbed the latest Thuglaq issue n waited for another cousin(Raghu anna) and he stormed in with a sumo. We made our way straight to mouli's place(a guest house sponsored by his company which he just joined this Monday) and than we set off to Mysore with four other friends who joined us on the way. We had to caress our calling stomach with a delicious buffet breakfast at a nice hotel(forgot the name) and we headed straight to srirangapatna-Tippu sultan's capital. Every monument there still had bravery and chivalry echoing within its walls. Especially the concept of "water gate" was most enthralling. The entire town was surrounded by river Cauvery and apart from the main entrance which is well protected one has to cross the river to attack the town and that means they have to breach not only the security but also the fierce crocodiles dropped in small pools all around the place. And history says that one of the pools did not have crocodiles in it and was used for taking water, this fact was revealed by some filthy betrayer and that resulted in the downfall of one of the most brave kings of all times. One more noticable fact is Tippu's army used guns and weapons which were deemed advanced for its contemporary realms.
After cherishing all the audacious marvels we moved to the GRS theme park. It was really an awesome experience(my first,so obviously the best). The most exciting rides were the pendulum and the two other slides of which i forgot their names. They were really cool and we were drenched fully very soon. The lazy river was nice time pass and we enjoyed paddling with our hands( i invented the reverse paddling and we had a "slow race" too :) ). We had some food and icecreams and not to forget some cricket too (with bowling machine). After a precautionary shower and change overs we left the park with cool memories filling us. The experience was really cherishable.
We then moved to the Mysore Palace. It was good and well maintained alright, but honestly it was boring. Our next destination was Brindavan Gardens and KSR and we were deeply disappointed when the dancing fountain was not working and we could hear all sounds of XP(start up,error, log off etc) from some remote comp which controlled the fountain's operation. So with heavier hearts we waded through some 1000 odd cars stationed in the area to a hotel name "Siddarta" for dinner. It was 10 pm when we reached the place and we had the worst possible service given the hype and reputation of the place. We did not get place for all of us in the first place and we were battling in both AC and non-AC sections to get seats for all of us. After all the commotion we were cramped in a so called "4 seater" table. The bearer was very kind(?!) and we ordered some random items and got something at the bearer's mercy. One of us got hold of the supervisor and asked him for pulav without much hope and surprisingly he brought it within minutes. We were drawn to fury by further troubles from the bearer and infact we turned to make mockery of him. One of my cousins came up with this. He asked "do u have coffee?" bearer:"no kitchen is closed." cousin"do u hav AC coffee??" and that man was really angry at this comment. Such was the situation- they were serving people inside the air conditioned room in a better way(we wished we got place there). Of course it was closing time but customers could be treated in a better way. We saw lot of families complaining about the service( i am told that hotel administrators in that state regard customer complaints highly and make appropriate inquiries and actions unlike most hotels here in Tamil Nadu)but we decided to spare our dear fellow. So we started our journey back to Bangalore and stopped once @ CCD for a coffee for the driver who was with us through out was very tired just like us and that clearly showed in his rash driving. So after the brief stop we landed at my cousin's flats at 3 am.
Thats it for now. In fact I wanna share more about Bangalore. That has to wait till next post, till then Take Care Cya :)
